Youth unemployment and underemployment is prevalent around the world because young people lack critical skills, don’t have work experience or job search abilities or lack the financial resources to find employment.
According to the data from the Global Business Coalition for Education (GBC-Education), the Education Commission, and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), approximately 54% of South Asian youth that leave school will lack the necessary skills to find a commiserate job by 2030. The data also showed that more than 50% of Indian youth are not on track to have the education and skills necessary for employment by 2030.
Given this context, it becomes imperative to intervene strategically in a way that our youth are able to identify and realize their capacities and skill sets, and build their larger perspective so that this demographic dividend is developed as a socially sensitive and productive resource for the community and nation.
